When We Went to Hamilton Zoo

It was a sunny and good day. Room Four and I had earned lots of marbles for our good behavior and we were going to the Hamilton Zoo to learn how animals live and for our project.

We were walking to our first animal in the zoo - the cheeky monkeys. They were hanging upside down. There were big long logs going across in the huge cage. They were leafy.
“Chatter! Chatter! Chatter!” chattered the two noisy birds. They were so white, they looked like snowmen on the thin sticks that went across their cage. To me, it looked like they were dancing on their yellow stick legs on the thin sticks.
Thirdly, we walked to the fat Red Panda’s big jungle cage. “Where is it?” thought our group.
Suddenly, we spotted the lazy fat Red Panda fast asleep on a wide flat brown log that lay across the enclosure.
Next, we walked to our next animal, which were
was the rhinos. They were stomping around on the hard ground.
“Try not to get them angry!” warned Mrs Thomson.
“ Okay,” we replied.
The fat rhino was up close, staring at us as if he was going to run at us.
“Nice and still, nice and still,” we said, sacredly.
The good thing was that it didn't hurt us.
We next walked into the Zoo Classroom. The teacher who was there was Ken and he showed us around. The classroom was fresh but it had dead animals that had been alive before but they had died. He told us all about animals and how they live.
Wow, that was fun at the zoo. I need to go again.

The Bad Zoo

It was a sunny morning. Alexa and Jack were biking to the zoo.
"Let's go to the cute stripy tigers,” Alexa said, so they walked to their enclosure. When they approached, everyone was running around screaming, “THE BABY TIGER ESCAPED!”
Alexa and Jack were frightened and went somewhere else. Suddenly in the bushes, a tail of black and orange appeared. They both followed it and it lead to an empty cage.

“Look! There it is! I really saw it!” shouted Alexa.
They saw the zoo keepers coming.
“What do you children think you doing in here?” roared one of zoo keepers.
Alexa and Jack said, “Uh .. um .... well .... uh .... we saw the missing tiger cub that escaped."
“Well, where is it?” wondered the zoo keepers.
“It's hiding in that log,” shouted Jack.
“Stay back, kids. We’ll  get it,” said the zoo keepers loudly.
“Okay,” replied Alexa and Jack.
There was a shiver in the green bush. The baby tiger jumped into the big net.
“Thank you, kids. We think you could have a reward and that is to pat the tiger cub."
“It's so soft and cute,” Alexa squeaked.
“I think we should go now,” said Jack.
So off they biked home, happily.

My Baptism

It was a busy morning. My sisters and I were getting ready to go to church to get baptized. I was nervous as well as feeling happy and excited.
My family and I were so busy packing this and that, it looked like we were flying bees zooming around.
As soon as we were ready, we started to gather everything in our dark blue car.
As soon as we were finished gathering everything, we drove to St Paul's big white Catholic Church. 
As we walked into the warm, calm and quiet church, I saw some nice people who were going to watch our baptism. We gently walked to the front row and sat on the cold seats.
In a couple of minutes, Father Keane came out and asked the god   parents to come up and bless us.
Next, Father Keane was saying some words. He asked if we could now come up and lean sideways over a large wooden bowl with freezing cold holy water in it and, as soon as I knew it, Father Keane started to pour cold freezing holy water on my forehead, making the Sign of the Cross. "That means," he said, "I have now baptised you In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen." 
My forehead was wet so Mum wiped my forehead and now I am baptized.  I am so happy now.

My Long Distance Race


One sunny day, my friends and I were going to have a long distance race. I  felt so nervous and excited. Mr.K had a loud gun that did not hurt anyone. I had to do three laps.
I  was counting “One, Two, Three and BANG now GO”. The wind was rushing at my face giving me fresh breeze. I was in lane two. I past three girls and now four. I was in the lead of coming second. I had butterflies in my tummy and that made me go faster. One more lap to go. That was the time I just remembered to give it all I got at the last lap. That is what I just did. I am still in the lead of coming second. The finish line was wide open so I speed as fast as a racing car and I ran past the finish line. “WE WHO” I screamed.
I was holding a plastic plate with the number two on it and that was the sign of coming second place.
“Uh Oh. Now I just remembered, in two weeks time, I’m doing interschools!”        “UH OH”!

GO NOAH

Thursday 25th September.

St Paul's Production (Go Noah)

Have you heard about St Paul's Production Go Noah, Well it all started 6 weeks ago, We where all practised it to know our parts and I wanted to be an angel so who ever wanted to be a angel had to sing "here comes the rain" and I was so venous but I did it. We had two dress rehearsal with our costumes and the masks, The angels looked astonishing with there make up and there dresses.

The characters where the family (Noah's family), Animals (Sea creatures, Penguins), Angel's, Neighbours, And the main characters were Mr. Noah and Mrs Noah.

On the night Mr.Keogh was inch-arg of  the lights, Made them change colours. The stage was as sandy as a desert . The band was playing loudly, The band was playing the guitar, key-board, bass and the drums. We were sing songs, We were also dancing and it was fun. GO NOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fish n Chips for dinner


Food For Dinner

Aren't you sick of having the same dinner every week, We'll ask your parents if you can have a healthy take away on the weekends. Have Fish n Chips.
Because Fish n Chips are healthy. It includes Fish which is healthy and the chips has potatoes in it which are venables and they are healthy.       
Fish comes from the sea and it is healthy and chips comes from potatoes and potatoes are healthy because its a venable.                      
It saves you from doing the greasy and slimy dishers, because you just have to eat of the new-paper and then chuck it into the bin.
It always is good to have a time of cooking so why don’t you pop down there and get some Fish n Chips instead of making home made dinners.       

Because are you sick of having the same dinner every week. See when you beg your parents to do something it could actually work, its like a mericull. ENJOY YOUR WEEK !!!!!!!!!!.................................... with fish n chips.

World of Maths

Mackenzie.JPGOn Monday, the man of World of Maths was in the quiet hall making some fun activities for Room 1, 2, 3, and 4s. Amaya, Morgen, Amelia and I were the Group 5.

The first fun maths game we did was See-Saw. The aim of the game was to see how much a small block could make a heavy block go up not down. We thought that game was cool. The man was Mr.Karphet but we called him Mr.P. Our favourite maths game was the Bird Race.

El Grego

On Friday, last week, the whole school went to see an anti-bullying show at the hall. This man called El Grego did the amazing magic show. My favourite trick was when El Grego invited Moses up to the stage to do some tricks (but it was actually ElGrego who was doing it) because he did tricks I’ve never seen in my whole life, like he had a hat and a cloth and turned the cloth into a very long scarf and the scarf colours were every colour of the rainbow. 
He got a box with nothing in it and he opened the box three times and wallah! a tiny bird was in the tiny box.
“WOW! That is magic,” I said.
Moses was very funny. Everybody at St Paul’s School was laughing. I thought how Moses was feeling. I bet he was feeling all funny inside when he did the tricks, then that was the time I remembered that I’d seen some of the tricks last year he came to this school.

Easter

On Easter Sunday, I quickly jumped of my warm, soft bouncy bed and I went to get a nice, cold glass of water but, what was that thing that was coloured in rainbow tinfoil? That was the time when I realised that it was Easter. There were only 5 Easter eggs on the black and white clean bench. I thought to myself where are all of the other yummy, nice Easter eggs? I went outside……… "Aaaaaaaaaaah," I said out loud. I saw a mini bunny then I saw another chocolate, yummy Easter Bunny and another. 
I went into the warm house and I tip-toed to get a white plastic bag and off we went to the Easter eggs. 
Creek !!!!!!!!!! Oops. I’m so lucky that Madison, Amelia and my Mum and Dad did not wake up. 
Very slowly, I tip-toed to the door, opened it and off I  went outside. I collected all of the Easter eggs that I could find. 10,11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20. WOW! 
I went back inside and I got my  Easter Bunny mask on. I pretended to be the Easter Bunny. (Did you know that I sat on the bench and ate my Easter eggs?) 
When I was finished, who was watching me? ………………Madison was and she said, "Where did you get those Easter eggs?"

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”





  
When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.
  

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Room 4's Birthdays.

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day.In this picture, my friends and I are eating rice.Yum, I want some more, I said, and, all of sudden, some sandy dirt flew in my rice. Yuck, yuck, yuck.       
To live simply, you have to.......have no pens, just pencils, have no treats like yoghurts, chips, jelly and fruit stings. It means to live simply - to have no fancy clothes,no technology and no books like colourful books.

The Hot Air Balloon

Today on Friday,  we saw a hot air balloon at St Paul’s school.
The hot air balloon was very colourful. The colours were yellow, red, orange and pink. Everyone that was there got to have a turn in the hot air balloon, then it was my turn and I was nervous but I was willing to have a go.
Up,  up and away we went. We weren't going up so high but we were up all right. WEEEE this is so much fun. There was also a penguin that was tied up. Every time we went down, the penguin got squashed.
The hot air balloon’s name was Wildfire. When I was under the fire, it was very warm and it felt like I was at home by the warm hot fire place. The whole school was told to go to school at 7am or 7.30 because the hot air balloon was coming to our school at that time.
The school bell rung. DING DING! went the bell.
We got to help the hot air balloonist put that MASSIVE big fat monster down on the ground. FART! The air was going so fast,it made that sound. Quinn, Daneka, Paige.D and I were the first ones to go in the rainbow-coloured balloon. I enjoyed the balloon ride and the day and it was my first time in the hot air balloon.

Swimming Sports



This year, our school had swimming lessons in the Ngaruawahia Town Pool, then we finished them by having our Swimming Sports Day.
We had lots of activities like backstroke, ball race and freestyle. I was in the little pool doing the freestyle race. In my head the word I can do it was spinning then suddenly, I heard Mr K blow the whistle GO! I went hard out doing freestyle. My arms were going around in circles. I saw that some people were in front of me, but I didn’t care. I just carried on. There was lots of splashing. As quick as a dolphin, I was at the end of the pool. What did I come? I got this orange round disk that said 2 on it. Does this mean I came 2nd? YES! I was very proud of myself for coming 2nd. I went up to a desk to give the disk to the people and they wrote my name on a whiteboard on the St Francis row.
After we did the swimming sports race, the whole school got to have a free swim.There were bombs, diving belly flops, jumping in and falling in. I KNEW COULD DO IT. I was so happy and proud of myself. I can't wait until next  year’s fun swimming sports.

What I found out: Honey is made by nectar and bees go and get the nectar from the flowers and bring back the nectar to the hive and turn it into honey then the beekeepers get the frames and get the nice honey off the frames and put it in a mixer and it goes nice and golden.
