This year, our school had swimming lessons in the Ngaruawahia Town Pool, then we finished them by having our Swimming Sports Day.
We had lots of activities like backstroke, ball race and freestyle. I was in the little pool doing the freestyle race. In my head the word I can do it was spinning then suddenly, I heard Mr K blow the whistle GO! I went hard out doing freestyle. My arms were going around in circles. I saw that some people were in front of me, but I didn’t care. I just carried on. There was lots of splashing. As quick as a dolphin, I was at the end of the pool. What did I come? I got this orange round disk that said 2 on it. Does this mean I came 2nd? YES! I was very proud of myself for coming 2nd. I went up to a desk to give the disk to the people and they wrote my name on a whiteboard on the St Francis row.
Hi Mackenzie,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool piece of writing. I felt like I was moving with you as I read this. I love the way you gave yourself positive thoughts before you started. That is such an awesome thing to do.
"As quick as a dolphin," is my favourite line. I also love the way you told me that you were proud of yourself. Did you have a goal and if so did you achieve it?
I love your ending paragraph, it sounds like everyone was celebrating a great day. I also like the way you are looking forward to it next year.
Next time, can you tell me who your school is? Also what extra detail can you give me to further develop a picture in my mind. Were you in more than one event?
